Lights. Camera. Action.
We are excited to announce our latest camera recording feature, which allows you to take your audience on a personal product journey—whether that's greeting viewers at the start, explaining complex sections mid-flow, or wrapping up with a personal touch.
With this feature, you have the ability to add your own voiceovers to any step in an Arcade and record them in 'edit' mode as part of the existing editing workflow.
It's more than just narrating a sequence; it's about bringing your genuine personality to the experience.
Why we built more personalization capabilities.
Last year, we introduced synthetic voice, allowing teams to create professional-sounding voiceovers using a text-to-voice model easily. This feature has become extremely popular, and teams worldwide use it to narrate their product demos in more than 20 languages, including recent additions of Swedish and Norwegian!
Synthetic voice is a great tool for adding quick narration with a professional voice; however, customers wanted a way to really personalize demos and do so on the step level in editing mode.
There are many moments when you might be the perfect person to introduce your product or provide some context that a friendly face and a few seconds can solve!
That's where a camera recording comes in 📹 .
How does the new camera recording feature work?
Recording a video or adding a personal voiceover happens on the step level once an Arcade has been created. You can choose between synthetic voice, personal voiceover, or a video recording. Additionally, we auto-generate captions and sync the text to your voice on video steps.
Main Benefits:
- Personal Touch: Articulate your product's value authentically.
- Accessibility: Automatic captions make your explanations clear and inclusive.
- Convenience: Easily insert recordings in edit mode for dynamic content curation.
Synthetic Voiceover or Camera Recording?
Synthetic voice technology offers simplicity and convenience, but according to our customer feedback, there's a notable demand for personalization. You can still leverage the synthetic voice for quick edits and script changes, but why not engage your audience further with your own voice and face at those pivotal points in a product demo?
Celebrities, they're just like us!
We're betting on interactive demos as the next big thing in Hollywood 😉 .
How different teams can incorporate personal videos.
🤝 Sales teams:
Use cases: outbound emails, prospect engagement, presentations
Sales engineers and account executives need to create content that engages prospects (and wider audiences) throughout a buying cycle. Adding videos to communication can add depth and ensure important messages hit home, whether speaking to one person or many.
💡 Pro tip: Incorporate custom variables for maximum personalization on each step. Check out this Arcade on how to use the feature from Arcade's own AE, Michael.
📣 Marketing teams:
Use cases: Landing pages, thought leadership content, changelog, social media
Including a friendly face inspires trust and helps to create a more memorable connection with potential customers.
💡 Pro tip: Add background music to make the demo more aurally engaging and evoke a certain ambiance. The music volume can be adjusted in an Arcade's settings.
🧱 Product teams:
Use cases: Customer research, sharing prototypes, product announcements
Incorporating a personal video or voiceover can be useful if you need to provide additional context, whether it's for an unreleased feature or to give instructions on how to use an arcade.
💡 Pro tip: Don't want to include a person's camera? Just use audio to convey your message.
At Arcade, we like to sprinkle personalized intros and closing messages in chapters! Our 2024 Benchmark report found that adding an intro chapter to an Arcade typically increases the play rate by 72%. We expect this number to rise with the addition of friendly faces 😊 in intro chapters.
Best Practices for Camera Recording
To get the most out of this feature, here are a few recommendations:
- Record in a Quiet Space: Minimize background noise to keep the focus on your message.
- Neutral Background: Opt for calm backgrounds so the camera bubble isn't too distracting.
- Enhance Audio Quality: Consider using external microphones or headphones for higher recording quality.
A New Era for Interactive Product Demos
Crafting a compelling story is essential for every product, whether trying to engage a prospect on your website or gathering customer feedback. It helps to capture your audience's attention, influence their buying choices, and establish a trustworthy relationship.
With the camera recording feature incorporated at key parts of your Arcade, your audience can experience the product and feel the personal commitment behind it.
So show off your friendly smile, and let us know what you think! 😊
