Walnut.io Pricing: Is It Worth It? [2024]

Explore Walnut.io's pricing tiers and features, comparing them with Arcade, an alternative for creating interactive product demos. Review options and costs.

If you're deciding if Walnut.io's pricing model works for your SaaS brand, this pricing guide is for you.

We reviewed the tool’s pricing page, user reviews, and third-party data and collected all available information about Walnut.io’s pricing in this comprehensive guide.

This article will review Walnut.io’s pricing model, pricing tiers, and add-ons.

TL;DR

  • All of Walnut.io’s core features for effective demo creation are included in its Lite Plan.
  • Walnut.io’s Pro and Enterprise Plans give you access to more support from the platform and help you build better demos.
  • You can access the tool’s advanced translations, SSO, Offline Demos, and white labeling as additional paid add-ons (pricing unknown).
  • Walnut's Enterprise plan can cost as much as $87,700 annually for enterprise brands with 1,000+ employees and between $15,000 and $30,000 annually for companies with fewer than 200 employees.
  • It is not common for Walnut.io to raise contract prices when renewing based on user reviews.

At the end of this guide, I’ll introduce you to a new interactive demo software that can help your team create product demos quicker and easier than Walnut.

Walnut.io Pricing Plans

Walnut.io lets you create interactive product demos that are personalized to your prospects’ needs for each step of the buying journey.

The tool has three pricing tiers, all providing unlimited demos, embeds, and integrations.

Walnut.io’s more expensive pricing tiers offer a higher level of support, such as dedicated account management and technical training.

➡️ That means your brand will get access to all necessary features in all of Walnut’s pricing tiers.

Here's a little sneak-a-peek into Walnut.io’s pricing:

💡 They also offer startup-friendly pricing

If you operate a small start-up with fewer than 25 employees, you may be eligible for a lower price for the software.

Does Walnut.io Have a Free Version?

Walnut.io does not offer a free version of its software. We could not find a free trial offer for the tool, so you’ll need to sign an annual contract to use the software.

Walnut.io’s Lite Plan

With Walnut.io’s Lite plan, your team will have access to all of the tool’s essential features for building interactive demos.

The plan costs $9,200/year and includes:

  • Unlimited demo creation.
  • Unlimited website embeds.
  • Unlimited integrations with platforms like HubSpot, Marketo, and Salesforce.
  • Demo analytics so you can track which demos are converting and which need improvement.

➡️ Your brand would have to sign an annual contract with Walnut.io to get access to the platform.

We also found out that there are available add-ons in this pricing tier:

  • White Label to further customize the interactive demos to your brand.
  • SSO for increased security.
  • Offline Demos so your demos can be accessed from anywhere without being online.
  • Advanced Translations lets you create multiple versions of your demo guides in different languages to provide a localized experience.

Note: We were not able to find the pricing for these add-ons.

Drawback - Creating Demos is Time-Consuming

When reviewing Walnut’s reviews on G2, we found that small businesses complain about how long it takes them to create demos. This is because they need to link all of the screenshots together to create the demos.

‘’It is very time-consuming to link all of the screenshots together.’’ - G2 Review.

Walnut.io’s Pro Plan

Walnut’s Pro plan costs $20,000/year and gives you access to an advanced Salesforce integration and more support from the tool.

On the Pro plan, you’ll get everything in the Lite plan, plus:

  • A dedicated customer success manager to help you build, personalize, and distribute your demos.
  • Expert technical training and go-live support to ensure that you can use the platform’s many bells and whistles.
  • Access to the tool’s advanced Salesforce integration that can sync the demo analytics into your Salesforce CRM.

We found that on the Pro and Enterprise plans, Walnut will provide you with several onboarding workshops.

Their team would meet with you to craft your demo strategy and figure out how success will be measured.

Drawback - The Platform Can Be Buggy

There is a trend in user reviews that we were able to spot: the platform’s UI is a bit buggy and clunky.

A verified customer of the platform notes that Walnut.io can be buggy, and it may not be able to capture screens appropriately.

‘’It can be buggy - e.g., the multi-resolution mode frequently messes up my browser window when I try to use it - and depending on your product, it may not be able to capture screens appropriately (but that's where support comes in!)’’ - G2 Review.

Walnut.io’s Enterprise Plan

Walnut.io’s Enterprise gives you access to even more support from the platform.

This pricing tier is ideal for enterprise GTM teams that need a higher level of security and ongoing professional services.

The Enterprise plan gives you access to everything in Pro, plus:

  • Custom pro services projects.
  • Dedicated account team.
  • Ongoing technical services.
  • On-site support options.
  • Enterprise-grade security.
  • Multi-team support.

Additionally, we were able to find additional benefits that Walnut offers to its Enterprise customers:

  • Full data control: The platform is SOC 2 certified, meaning that you can share your interactive demos knowing that the customer data is safe.
  • Secure authorization with SSO and Okta.
  • Bug-Free Environment with guaranteed zero downtime, no loading time issues, and no bugs.

Drawback - Hard To Build Mobile-Friendly Demos

Unfortunately, we found that Walnut.io does not have a way to create mobile-optimized interactive product demos, so customers of the platform need to find workarounds.

‘’We initially had some difficulty building Walnut demos from a mobile point of view because the platform only allows us to take screen captures from a web browser.’’ - G2 Review.

How Much Walnut.io's Enterprise Plan Actually Cost?

We sifted through reviews and third-party platforms, and we found that organizations with over 1,000 employees see as high as $87,700 per annum.

On the other hand, Vendr sources claim that the Enterprise plan can cost ‘’as low as’’ $41,400 a year.

Additionally, we found that if your company has fewer than 200 employees, you can access the platform for between $15,000 and $30,000 a year.

Any Reported Surprises at Renewal?

There have been no reported surprises at renewal when it comes to Walnut.io, that I’m aware of.

We looked at reviews from G2, Vendr, and Capterra, and we were not able to find any unexpected price increases at renewal.

Looking for a Walnut.io Alternative To Build Interactive Product Demos?

As Walnut.io’s pricing has been reported to be high, only enterprise teams can realistically afford it.

We also found another Enterprise customer complaint about Walnut’s lack of some features, as the platform either lacks them or requires customization.

‘’While Walnut is powerful and flexible, other tools tend to have certain, what seems to be basic, functionality that Walnut lacks or requires customization. The building experience takes a bit longer to grasp, though a recent update has made it a bit easier.’’ - G2 Review.

If your primary focus is creating compelling product demos that can be personalized to your audience without costing tens of thousands of dollars and binding you into annual contracts, look no further than Arcade (that’s us).

Here’s how Arcade is different from Walnut:

  • Similar to Walnut.io, Arcade lets you record your real-time interaction with your product, including scrolling, typing, etc.
  • If you want to share demos in more channels, Arcade offers more options for sharing and exporting demos than Walnut.
  • Arcade is also the better option for ease of use and publishing time, with an average deployment time of 6 minutes.
  • You can also build mobile-friendly demos, as our demos are adjustable to the viewers’ screens.

Arcade Features

Advanced Recording & Exporting Options

Arcade is versatile when it comes to building interactive demos.

Our software has an intuitive, easy-to-use interface that lets you get up and running in minutes.

You can use Arcade’s Chrome extension to:

  • Record engagement, such as clicks.
  • Catch mouse movements.
  • Take screenshots or record product videos.
  • Create hotspots.

Additionally, you can use Arcade’s Desktop app to record:

  • Your tool’s desktop apps.
  • Terminal apps.
  • Multiple tabs and screens.

💡 That means your team won’t have to use separate tools for screen recording, screenshots, creating, and editing interactive demos.

Arcade also  lets you upload existing videos and screenshots as pillars for your interactive product tour.

The platform then stitches the videos and screenshots into demo steps.

💡Pro Tip: I’ve noticed that this method of creating interactive product demos is a particularly flexible option when we want to make demos for mobile applications or migrate existing demo content from other platforms.

When your interactive demos are ready, Arcade supports multi-media and multi-channel exports, such as:

  • HTML-embedding the demos on your website, landing page, or app.
  • Social media and email campaigns.
  • High-quality GIF.
  • High-quality video.
  • Sharing links to your demo via any channel.

To put the cherry on top, Arcade’s demos are mobile-friendly (unlike Walnut.io’s).

The tool’s product demos are optimized for mobile phones, meaning they are automatically adjusted to the device on which they are viewed.

Visual Polish & Editing

Arcade helps you tell your product story the way you want to by providing advanced editing options, such as:

  • Chapters: Chapters can break up your demo into relevant segments and add context for each, making it easier to navigate and rewind.

Choose Your Own Adventure: An advanced branching option that gives your customers more control over the demo by letting them choose a path.

  • Camera Recording: Add a personalized touch to your product demos by recording a video or audio.
  • Mobile optimization: The tool automatically adjusts and optimizes demos for mobile views when it detects they’re being accessed through mobile.
  • Video editing: You can upload video files, and/or the Desktop app and the Chrome Extension will automatically generate a video that you can trim, speed up, and turn into a static image.
  • Pan and Zoom: Arcade lets you easily direct your audience’s focus on the most critical parts of the tour without advanced editing skills.
  • Synthetic voiceovers: Our platform supports 29 voiceover languages, enabling you to include clear and concise explanations at each step of the product tour.
  • Blurring: You can blur parts of an existing interactive demo.

💡 Each change you or your team make in a demo will be automatically updated across all channels. That means your customers and prospects will always have the latest version available, reducing your operational time.

Case Study: Glide saved six months of content production.

Glide refreshed and expanded ⅔ of its documentation, reducing the production time for six months' worth of video content.

Advanced Customization & Personalization

Brands like HackTheBox 👇 care about creating interactive demos that seamlessly fit their brand.

We believe that personalization is the key to success in today’s competitive market, and that also applies to product demos.

This is why crafting a customized demo for each lead will make your brand more memorable.

You can create fully personalized demos quickly with Arcade’s custom variables and links.

➡️ Variables are placeholders you can define that turn specific text within your product demo into templates.

At view time, these templates will be replaced with personalized values, such as the lead’s first name, company name, etc.

Test it out here. 👇

➡️ You can also personalize demos for many viewers with custom links.

The tool will automatically generate a template with dynamic placeholders and lead data.

➡️ Page Morph helps you personalize demos for specific prospects by directly editing the text of your recording product.

How Arcade's Pricing is Different From Walnut.io

Arcade’s pricing is primarily based on the seats you require.

That means smaller teams would have access to advanced demo building and personalization features at a lower price than Walnut.io.

Arcade also has a generous freemium plan (unlike Walnut.io) that lets you create and publish three interactive product demos, including camera recording, synthetic voiceover, and demo chapters.

➡️ Another core difference is that Arcade does not bind you to an annual contract, as you can subscribe to one of our monthly plans.

For unlimited product demos and more design, personalization, and sharing options, you can subscribe to one of our three paid plans:

  • Pro: $32/user/month, giving you access to unlimited arcades (i.e., demos) with customization and branding control over your demos.
  • Growth: $42.50/user/month, up to 10 users with unlimited arcades. This plan is ideal for teams and includes advanced editing, branching, and collaboration.
  • Enterprise: Custom pricing with a minimum requirement of 10 users, giving you access to unlimited arcades, enterprise-level security, and analytics dashboards.

Note: We recommend you try Arcade’s Growth plan’s advanced editing, branching, and collaboration features with our 14-day free trial to experience its full capabilities.
